In detail
What § 25 requires
Equipment is a feature of structural quality § 25(1). Every practice and group practice has, according to its specialty and function, this basic equipment § 25(2):
- equipment to take the clinical status, a blood-pressure monitor for example;
- equipment for emergency management (see § 9, lesson 5.2);
- state-of-the-art IT to meet the duty to keep medical records;
- a practice sign naming the specialty and how to reach you.
Beyond that, the equipment, whether first or second practice, matches the services offered; where listed, the specialty and specialisation equipment of Annex 1 applies § 25(3).
Your range of services decides what applies
Your range depends on whether you offer the whole specialty or part of it, and on the practice's function. You state it in the evaluation. If a single item is missing, you explain why § 25(4). Doctors working only in an advisory or expert capacity need the basic equipment of general medicine or of their specialty § 25(5).
It is a deficiency when the equipment doesn't match the services offered § 31(2). The certificate shows the range of services stated and evaluated § 43(2).
What works as proof
- a device list, checked against your specialty's list in Annex 1;
- a short reason for each missing item that you don't need because you don't offer the service;
- a photo of the practice sign.
Checklist
- The basic equipment of § 25(2) is complete.
- Your specialty's list in Annex 1 has been checked.
- Each missing item has a reason.
- The practice sign names the specialty and contact details.
Quiz
What applies if single items from Annex 1 are missing?
- The practice must close
- It doesn't matter
- It's always a deficiency
- You explain why; it's a deficiency if the equipment doesn't match the services you offer
Show the answer
The answer is D: You explain why; it's a deficiency if the equipment doesn't match the services you offer. § 25(4) requires a reason; under § 31(2) it's a deficiency when the equipment doesn't match the services offered.
