Open in the coursewith narrated slides, a checklist to tick off and a quiz
At a glance
- Meet regularly. Regular staff meetings, to improve how the practice works for patients.
- Ask for feedback. The team is asked for feedback regularly, so improvements can follow from it.
- Train, and the yearly safety talk. Instruct or train regularly, in-house or outside, and once a year brief the team on safety matters in a talk.
In detail
What § 22 requires
- Regular staff meetings are held to improve patient-centred workflows § 22(1).
- Staff are regularly asked for feedback, so that improvement measures can be defined where needed § 22(2).
- They are instructed or trained, in-house or outside, at regular intervals, and once a year informed about the practice's safety matters in a talk § 22(3).
The QS-VO doesn't put a number on "regularly". Only the yearly safety talk is fixed.
What belongs in the safety talk
The QS-VO doesn't list topics. The duties in this course are the obvious ones, for example:
- the emergency plan and who does what in an emergency § 8;
- hygiene rules and handling sharps Hygiene-V §§ 11, 22;
- fire safety and workplace safety § 6;
- data protection and confidentiality §§ 16, 17;
- what has happened since the last talk, adverse events for example § 23.
What works as proof
- meeting minutes with date, attendees and outcomes;
- how feedback is collected, as a fixed agenda item for example;
- records of instruction and training;
- the minutes of the yearly safety talk, signed.
Checklist
- Staff meetings take place regularly and are minuted.
